Abstract    Control charts provide useful information about process that can be examined from different statistical and economic directions and different sampling schemes for achieving a better result. In past studies, it has been shown that np charts show better results in detecting shifts by using variable sampling schemes but the performance just has been studied based on economic aspects. In this paper, the economic-statistical design of np chart with variable sample size and sampling interval (VSSI) is formulated and then we compare and analyze obtained results with other schemes. Results show significant improvement in terms of economic and statistical performance.

Keywords    np control chart, economic-statistical design, Markov chain, design of Experiments, variable sampling schemes
